There are those who prey on believers. It's pretty easy to spot a preacher driving a rolls Royce and wearing rolexs.

It is the job of the pastor however to teach those who have ears about the tithe. It should be about so much more than tossing loose change in a bucket.

It is about understanding that God gave us the ability to earn, and out of respect we give back what was given to us. My life has changed for the better once I learned to trust God for my finances and needs instead of faith in self.

If I worry about the 10% I give, I'm not trusting God to provide.

Not trying to preach at you, just explaining my thoughts.

I believe the original precedent was The Last Supper.

Maybe if I was allowed to go and no one badgered me after about all of the other church stuff I should get involved with also. And no one would show up unannounced at my house "just to check on me" when I miss a service.

I've been going to Orthodox services of my own volition, recently. The believing switch is not 'on', but the community is fantastic and I will profess nominal belief in order to participate.

Probably nothing, I'm so turned off by organized religion.

I have some friends that regularly go to an "All Souls" church for the community

They have asked us to go with them several times but I have yet to go. The wife went once and said she enjoyed it.

This is the same couple that invited us to a massive orgy, so I'm still somewhat skeptical of them

That is not a bad thing! Humans pervert religion and twist it into a bunch of unwritten rules.

I hate it when people have to turn around and greet each other. I'm an introvert, and I don't randomly shake hands or hug people without a damn good reason.

Orthodox services are, well, a little...orthodox. The Greek community here is so ridiculously conservative that I'm thinking of poaching a woman for marital purposes.

There's still some good groups out there. The problem is finding them or starting your own. If you are into that...
