A country of modest self-reliant people would thrive.
Most people SHOULD drive their cars much longer and drive more inexpensive cars. They are such a money drain just to go from A to B, the same as everybody else.
Congrats on your overpriced Corvette. You still have to go the speed limit.

We don't produce nearly as much as we used to. I wrote a paper on this in a political science class (I actually received an A and no it wasn't because the professor felt sorry for me. It actually was used as an example later in the semester).
In short, I simplified it by breaking down the world economy into 6 different countries. The economy of 5 countries were mainly based around what they produced. The 6th country's economy depended mostly on buying good from the other 5 countries and selling those goods.
If banks stopped loaning as much money and there is less money in circulation, it would have the biggest effect on the country that doesn't produce anything.. While it would hurt the other countries, they still are able to make things that are being bought, but in the 6th state, businesses have to shut down which means more people are jobless so less money is being spent. It creates a less stable economy.
There is a lot more to it, but the 6th country depends too much on the other countries and doesn't offer as much to the other countries, in order to have a more stable economy. It depends on its own people to distribute their to businesses in order for them to stay open. And that is the only way they survive.

I’d say I drive more than the average person but I wouldn’t say I’m that much above average
I dont know exactly how much the average person drives in a year- but i know that it’s nowhere NEAR 40k-50k miles.. i’m guessing the average is 12k-15k (though i drive more than that), while 20k-25k a year is probably considered high.. your mileage is on the extremely high side.

If the 6th country (let’s call it OwakandeO) doesn’t produce much of anything, how are they getting the capital to import goods from countries 1-5?
Does OwakandeO have some abundant source of a valuable raw material that allows them to sell it to 1-5 and the profits are so great that the ruling class is willing to share it with the general populace?
Is OwakandeO producing its own food? What do the people do if there isn’t industry driving it?

seriously, when your parents God bless them , convinced your parish to let you go to school with the normal kids you were done a disservice
its obvious your teachers disliked you as much as the rest of us and the gave you passing grades so they wouldnt have to see you again
you actually claimed that socialism was a form of capitalism,, or capitalism was a type of socialism earlier in this very thread,
don't trot out this " one time my professor was pleasantly surprised at my crayon drawings" as some measure of success you stupid piece of shite

You think the average person only drives 12k-15k a year?
No fricking way.
I’d say the average, working, active person at the very least drives 20k a year.

So the average for working adults 35-54 are almost 20k miles a year.
How old is that graph? I bet that graph is 10 years old

‘Average’, by it’s very definition, means everything from the old grandma who only drives to church on Sunday.. to an Uber driver who drives thousands of miles per week... Your mileage is very high, nothing wrong with that, just that’s a lot of miles.
ETA: see the graph posted above for proof that you’re incorrect

Well if vehicles were made like they used to be people would keep them longer.
Hondas and Toyotas of today go for hundreds of thousands of trouble-free miles. I'm in my 50s, when I was growing up people would be scared of a vehicle when it reached 6 digits, now a Toyota ain't even broken in at that mileage.

Oh no doubt. I’m not arguing with you. It’s wearing me out. I’m getting too old for that shite
But honestly, I sometimes love being on the roads
I work for myself and don’t punch a clock or answer to anyone so I can drive as much or less as I want.
It’s a blessing and a curse.

The economy would decline. Less purchases mean less goods manufactured.

Agreed, i love driving and road trips.. i actually wish i could drive more for work, as opposed to flying which has gotten to be a real pain.
