BR you can be in a neighborhood with million dollar homes and then cross the street and it is the hood.
The rich houses in places like Hundred Oaks would have the servants living in the hood a block or two over like Bawell Drive.

You would never ever hear an AWFUL (Affluent, White, Female, Urban, Leftist) utter the phrase, "Defund the police", again.

Food stamps and welfare have little to do with a class segregated society. Probably a lot easier to maintain one if you don't have throngs of utterly desperate poor people to control.
Otherwise, it would be that 10% or so of the people control 95% of the wealth. They live in gated communities, send their kids to private schools and have the best heathcare in the world. The rest of the people are in debt and mainly work in service industries.

It’s paid in Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, VA benefits, etc. it goes to people - poor people usually. They spend it locally - at the doctor, dentist, grocery store, restaurant, etc.
Cut that out, and it will be an unprecedented economic disaster. Keep it up, same thing. Unless the super rich and corporations start paying more, like they did when the budget was balanced. But can’t bring that up because they fund campaigns.
Hence, arguing over stupid stuff like what bathroom to use, renaming the Great Lakes, everybody gets a check if I win, etc.

segregated by class and not race would be fanatastic. I will leave the caveat of being able to move up or down in the class systems to keep the pressure on people to do better.

Pre-Colonial India is about as close as you're going to get with it's caste system, but it also had some systemic racism built into it.

Why would you want to be rich if there weren’t poor people willing to do things for your money.
