You dont even need a license to drive a farm vehicle.

I know a bunch of sugarcane and crawfish farmers and I can't think of one employee that is Mexican. You are making up a problem that applies to other states, not LA.

Illegals must be driving these sand trucks for O&G as well. We've had 5+ flip over in a few months time. All around the same area.

There is no way in hell they passed a CDL test.

Most of them working in the cane fields are on work visas. I have no idea how that works with ICE. I know they come here, work for a certain time period then go back for 3 months which is when they have to get their temp visa renewed. Those dudes are usually working and sending most of their pay back home to family. And as long as their is documents on them to ID who they are I assume that isn't as big of a problem right?

I would think that is the big issue.. You are in the US.. You claim you want a better life for your family yet you can't even get a temporary visa? Why not? What are they hiding? And that's the people some dick head made an app to help out. They app that allows them to track where ICS is.. Or if ICS is within a certain distance from their location.

Have you ever talked to any drivers from Jeanerette or Da Berry? Engrish is a second language to many in South La as it is.

I bet if you could have a truly independent study done, sugar farming in Louisiana is a net loss for the state. Study water pollution, air pollution, destruction of highways, damage to vehicles, subsidies, etc.

But they won’t. Jose ‘ is not cutting Jimmy out of job. Jimmy won’t show up every morning. Jimmy won’t pass the drug screen. Jimmy can skate. Hard working, hungry, happy Jose ‘ is a better employee.

At least they waited to hit Oakdale until after crawfish season was over.

Jimmy has 3-4 baby mommas and the state is garnishing every check. Jimmy also gets popped for slinging dope once a quarter and has to get bailed out.

New DOT law mandates
Semi trucks hauling sugar cane is considered farm equipment, not commercial trucks, hence the reason the drivers don't need a cdl.

This. And the trucking company that hauls cane in my area (Ag Logistics) has decent equipment with good drivers (IME). I'm around those guys from September thru January and they drive slower and more carefully than the local residents in the area. Think a lot of people assume the same shite that goes on in other states or industries happens here, but I can't remember the last time I saw an accident involving a cane truck or saw a cane truck driving recklessly.

so tell me why Americans can't drive trucks? there is zero reason. We're not talking about picking crops in the heat. we have over the road drivers all over the fricking place. This is easy, short distance hauls. Great for extra money if that's what you are looking for.

Long story short... this whole BS from the left about Americans unwilling to do these jobs are a lie.

Yep, I watched a Peter Santenello video on YouTube when he did his series of videos on south Louisiana, and he did an entire video with a crawfish farmer, and some of the Mexican H-2A visa workers

Why don't the illegals just enter the US legally and then legally get a cdl? seems like it would be too easy.

Peter Santenello has a great video on YouTube about a crawfish farm from his series on Louisiana that explains this process in detail.

What will happen?

Hwy-90 may be safe to drive again as we go back to doing it the way we did it before.
