What were your greatest moments in youth sports?

I don’t really have a lot to choose from, I was pretty average as an amateur athlete.
Football: I was my middle school’s Stephen Sullivan, WR/TE hybrid who gave good effort but was never as good as the guys in front of me. I had one career reception for a first down so there’s that.
Basketball: Blocked a game winning three point attempt into the stands as time expired
Baseball: Hit an inside the park homer in little league and got tackled by my teammates after crossing home plate
Soccer: By far my worst sport and me and my friends joined our middle school team as kind of a joke. One time out of sheer luck I volleyed a goal in out of the air and we ended up winning the match 1-0. Good times.

I put up 42 points one game in 7th Grade. Shot lights out, most from 3 point land

Going undefeated and winning the league championship as the starting catcher with my dad as the head coach in babe Ruth ball. Same team of guys from like 5-12 years old so we were all really close and with the same 3 coaches. We were never super good any specific year except for this one year. It was a lot of fun.

Made the Ascension Braves travel ball team.

Dodge ball. 5th grade. I stood alone against 6 opponents, and prevailed. Later that year, I'd go on to win the P.E. class horseshoes championship.

I beat an NCAA Men's Golf Championship Runner-Up and multiple top-10 PGA Tour finisher in a 9-hole junior golf event when we were like 11

In like 6th grade we made 3 v 3 teams in the neighborhood and were going to do a football season keeping up with records, had homefields in each other's yards, entrance music the whole shebang. Lot of hype.
First game of the season my team was protecting a 1 score lead and the other team had the ball 4th and goal on the 1 with the neighborhood fat kid in the backfield. Nickname was The Unit. Usually the only way to tackle him was to let him run by and jump on his back and ride him down. Obviously not an option at the 1. We knew he was getting the ball and me and my buddy shot the gaps and stuffed him in the backfield for a loss and a game winning goal line stand.
Over 25 years later it still feels amazing.

It was when my son was in his last year of Rec baseball. It was all-star season. I was the 3rd base & batting coach. He was our left fielder. We were in the last inning of deciding game of the area tournament. My son is up to bat, full count, runners on the corners, 2 out and we are down two. The pitch comes in and he destroys it over the fence for the win and the area championship. It was like something out of a movie. I was so happy for him. That was the last baseball game he ever played and he went out like a champ.

8th grade spring practice, tackling drill. I made a perfect form tackle on a much bigger guy. Up to that point I had been a nonentity for a couple of years. The coach took me aside and said, "you're going to play some ball for us." I was never a star or even a starter after that but I was a contributor and felt like part of the team.
