in high school taking an AP World History quiz or something. Some teacher came into our class to tell our teacher what had happened, and since I was the first one done with the quiz, she sent me to that other teacher's classroom to watch and report back.
The first tower collapsed as I was watching, so when I went back to my class to report on it, the teacher thought I was full of shite.
After the quiz was over, they wheeled in one of those huge TV carts so we could watch. We turned it on right as the 2nd tower fell.

Freshman at LSU.
Was living in Kirby Smith and woke up late for class. Ran through the lobby and there was a large group watching TV, what I thought was some sort of action movie, which seemed strange for that time of day.
Hustled to class in time to be told it was cancelled, went back to dorm in time to watch second plane hit and towers come down.

Coming out of a computer science class at ULL. The conference center was abuzz with the news of the first plane. Then the second one hit and everything went silent.

I thought the death toll was going to be much higher from the twin towers.
One of my teachers pulled out an encyclopedia and read facts to us. It said that up to 50,000 people work in the WTC buildings (between all 5 towers).
Pretty horrifying number.

Wasn't there one company that lost basically all of their employees that day?

I was sitting in class at St. Paul's. I remember Bro Ray coming on the TV and telling us what was happening.

I was in the first grade. They didn't let us watch it live, but they let the fifth and sixth graders watch. So I didn't know what had happened until after school. I wish I had been able to understand it and appreciate the significance of it more when it happened.
I do remember everyone being very concerned about what else might happen. I went with my Dad to fill up our cars with gas and our local gas station was either out of gas or so backed up that you had to wait forever so we had to go further away to get gas. It seems like I remember maybe staying home the next day or school being closed, but I may be 100% incorrect about that.

Not all, but Cantor Fitzgerald lost a significant portion of its staff that day.

Senior year of HS.
I worked in the library 1st period and one of my jobs was to put on "Channel One" every morning. I would just put a tape in and broadcast the show to all the TVs in the school.
Well the VP came and asked if I could get CNN to broadcast on all the TVs. I didn't know how and that was it. Didn't know what was happening but I could tell she was very upset.
I walked into 2nd period (World History) to see everyone gathered around the grainy TV. The 1st tower had just fell. We then watched the 2nd tower fall.
I remember our history teacher telling all of us to remember this day.
We didn't change classes that day. We all just watched the news. (We eventually got better reception).
We continued to only watch the news in every class for 3 days.

In class at Mandeville High, senior year, think we had homeroom that day and we had the TV on when the second plane hit. After the first one we thought it was just some dumb pilot and didnt realize the implications of what had happened
Eta: lots of us are about the same age on here, kinda surprising for a college message board

Sitting in an corner office on Hwy 75 about 5 miles north of downtown Dallas, about an hour after the attacks downtown evacuated because no one knew what was going on or happen next.

I was a few weeks into my Sr year in high school. We like others all gathered in class and watched the chaos.

6th grade math around 9am is when we learned about it but I went to an overprotective baptist school so we didn’t watch the news.
Just said that it was serious and we could go home if we were scared. School basically turned into a daycare with parents slowly picking kids up.
Once we got home you just watched the news until you passed out.
