- chicken tender day

- establishing your orange juice for extra chocolate milk trade partner for the year

- being chosen to raise the flag for the week

- hearing your name being called on the intercom to be checked out and the smug face you would give all your friends on you walked out the door

- being the first to flip over your test to signal that you finished first and were the smartest

- tetherball tournaments

- making kids throw up on the merry-go-round

Back in third grade my teacher absolutely hated me. Never knew why but she was a complete bitch to me all the time. It was so bad that when my sister (sorry, no pics) got to third grade my mom requested that she have a different teacher.

I believe it was the last day of school before Christmas break and we were playing bingo. Out of the entire class of about 30, I won all three games.

The teacher accused me of cheating even though she was the one calling out the numbers.

I don't remember what the first two prizes were that I won but I do remember that she wouldn't give me the big stuffed animal prize that I had won for that third game. frick you Ms. Vicknair.

Number Crunchers and Oregon trail.

Italian Dunkers - Always occurred after a two day stretch when they did something that had prego/meat sauce and then hot dogs. Left over hot dog buns split open, american cheese melted on them, served with leftover prego/meat sauce for dipping. Really they were just tricking us into finishing leftovers.

Once a year clay project in art class. I'm one of four and we're all old now. A few years ago, my mom finally had the will to ask us if she could throw out the entire china cabinet full of clay shite we made.

Being chosen to clean the blackboard and slap the erasers together to get the chalk out of them (probably will get lung cancer because of this).

Snack recess (Now & Laters, those fruit juice drinks in plastic barrels with the foil on top, Doritos)

Playing Smear the Queer when we didn't even know what a queer was.

Troll Book Club

Friday before Halloween we would have a festival where every classroom would decorate and have a theme with games to play. Highlight of the year.

I remember watching the second plane hit the WTC on TV. After that moment our class was decorated in red white and blue until we graduated.

I can still sing "I'm proud to be an American" anytime I want because we heard that song 10 times a day.

I went to school during the crossover from the projector to the TV cart, so got to experience both. That damn projector made such a racket when the film ran out.

Seeing the film strip projector in the classroom when you got back from recess, especially the ones with the accompanying cassette tape narration.

if you were the kid selected to operate the projector to flip to the next slide when the cassette "beeped", highlight of your month.
