My high school in suburban Charleston SC was across a large common area from our middle school. When I was in 8th grade, there was a race riot at the high school, two people stabbed. Had a police presence there from then on.

Suicide by a very popular, well liked student who came from a family that was well known and respected in the community.
Kind of a big deal for a mid 80s, small town catholic school.
Probably had our share of philandering coaches too. There were always rumors, but nothing ever substantiated.

a guy burned down our office then a week later down another building. Late 90’s. Looking back 20 plus years now, hate to think about how much worse it could have been.

Kid slid down a flag pole off the roof of the academic building. Tore his nut sack open on the way down. Had to be driven to hospital with one of our teachers holding his junk in.

First year of complete desegregation in BR schools.
Black guys one side, white guys the other side.
Girls standing on the benches behind their men.
Cafeteria served whole apples on every plate.
Black girl hurls her apple and hits a white girl in the head.
It was hell as I ran the other way.
7th hour a black kid stood up and told the teacher I was the cause of the fight.
She was black and said she saw the whole fight and saw me running away.

Oh, a kid was pulled out of class by FBI for reported pistol in his locker. There was and it was on a day that pep rally was scheduled in gym. Believed related to the death of his hero H Rap Brown.

One of the first school shootings was at my HS when I was in the 11th grade. Luke Woodham killed his girlfriend and her best friend at school and shot others, but he killed his mom before he went to school that day.

A few big events. This huge kid got his butt whipped by a much smaller kid went home and returned with a shotgun. Fortunately no shots fired as the coaches talked him down. Second thing was when our religion teacher -not a priest or nun- got arrested for soliciting a prostituir that turned out to be a man dressed like a lady. Last thing was when our principal called a male student to his office to touch base and was only wearing a catchers mask and glove and yelling slide slide when the kid arrived. He was fired. Oh also our janitor died in the custodian closet but it was natural causes.
