The 90s were good, I’ll say that much about them. But nothing compares to the 80s. The 80s was a truly amazing time to be alive and young. I turned 10 in 1980 so my later childhood and teen years were in the 80s. I was child of the 80s in very sense of the term. I consider myself lucky to have experienced it.

People love to say how great the 80’s were, and they absolutely were.

But the 90’s were even better.

I was born in 75...the 80's were ok as a kid, but as a teenager in the 90's, the 80's teenagers looked at us with jealously in their eyes, they were scared of 90's kids.....

I was born in 79. The best thing about being a teen in the 90's was that you were also a kid in the 80's which was the GOAT decade to be a young kid. Between the toys- GI Joe (the awesome 80's version which was way better than the earlier version), Transformers, Voltron, He-Man. Movies like Goonies, Stand By Me, Indiana Jones. Cartoons, Garbage Pail Kids, every kid you knew played in your baseball league, Topps and Donruss baseball cards, BMX, Big League Chew.

If you think the 90's were great, you can't imagine the 80's!

Being a 90's teen absolutely rocked

But being an 80's kid(born in '81) absolutely fricked.

Alternate view - early 90s sucked. The economy was crap after the ‘89 crash. Grunge music was depressing and pathetic. Women started dressing like trash - no makeup, face piercing, flannel, lesbo haircuts. It was a shock after the 80’s when women really made an effort to look good.

At least we hung out like real people. No social media or cellphones.

I think the 70s was the perfect era to come of age.

Yeah, that's wrong. The 70's had more problems than you think. That's when I came of age. The 80's were better in most ways; music being the exception.

Not for kids coming of age.

I also had an 80s childhood and 90s HS and college days. I'm fine with my draw in life.

We used to go to parties every weekend and get hammered drunk, then always make it home. I don’t remember anyone getting a dui, but checkpoints were non existent at the time. I’m not sure how no one I knew got killed.

I’d be so disappointed in my kid if she did a fraction of the shite I did.

I mean, take away the seemingly always impending Cold War threat propaganda, things were pretty awesome.

Ummmmmmmm, the Soviet Union had already broken up for most of the 90s. Cold War pretty much ended with the Berlin Wall coming down.

The 90s sucked for many adults, especially working class/middle class non college educated ones. Manufacturing jobs had been disappearing but they all but vanished and those that remained filled their ranks with “temp workers”. Both my parents fit the above bill. Both got laid off from a good job (made 15 or so an hour) in 1993. They weren’t alone.
Massive change in construction and trades as well with mass migration/immigration.

I love how we can all come together on social media with our cell phones and recall how life was better before social media and cell phones.

All of this!

I was born in 80. Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Arcades! We had BMX bikes with pegs and would ride everywhere and make ramps and jumps. Movies and TV were awesome. Dont forget Rambo, A-Team, AIRWOLF!!! Used to love watching McGyver with my dad. It was the heyday of sitcoms like Full House and of course we are the Saved By the Bell generation. Jansport backpacks and Snapper Keepers. The first Air Jordans! Saturday morning cartoons! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and everyone took karate lessons. We built awesome tree houses. I spent zero time in my bedroom like kids do today. I wonder how many miles I put on my bike. We had countless two-hand touch football games in the street with all the kids of the neighborhood. 80s kids and 90s teens had it really good. It was the peak of pre-internet lifestyle. We had all of the best entertainment and comfort and technology before the constant contact of the internet, cell phones, and social media. Cell phones weren't common until my last year at LSU.

80s. Pre Deadly STD and no cancel culture. Saturday night live was funny. Richard Pryor was funny. People didn't shoot each other over a blinker.
