I understand there are a lot of terrible names out there but I think something like which is slightly different from the norm isn't off the wall.

We are going through the dreadful task of thinking of baby names right now....

Is there something wrong with the name Elazabeth? That's my daughter's middle name.

Makes zero sense to name the kid something but call it something else IMO
There are certain shortened names that go with the "formal" name that eventually a kid will shed, or should shed, IMO.
I guess if you absolutely want to call your kid Josh forever, put Josh on the birth certificate, but if you're going to go back and forth, put Joshua.

That's exactly what we did thank you. The name made sense for us. Trust me...cute isn't the #1 priority...flow and yes the future are bigger parts of it...all things we considered. It took us 3.5 months to decide on a name. The name won't be a hindrance for him we feel. Like I said, it's different but it's not so out there that people automatically think poor child either.

My daughter's name is not on the list, but it's close to one, which is why people always call her that shite.

At a bare minimum, give your kid a chance.
If you're going to go off the wall, give him or her a more traditional middle name.

Seen too many fricked up names in our hospital. The absolute worst are Naveah, Miracle, Chosen, Sir _____.

We named our son Jaxon and we love it. Most have said the same to us. I understand there are a lot of terrible names out there but I think something like which is slightly different from the norm isn't off the wall.
The name isn't the problem nearly as much as the stigma associated with the parents of kids named Jaxon. There is a stereotype that goes with it, hence the ribbing, but if you don't fit the stereotype, no harm, no foul.

I would love a son, but I would hate trying to agree with my wife on a name. Before we found out the sex of our daughter, she suggested Oliver as a boy option....

Oliver is solid. Depending on your background, I can see how it would be unappealing, but it is a "traditional" name that is making a comeback. While not as popular, it is like Sophie or Sophia for girls - the name of a woman who is either 75 or 5.

unfortunately, with my last name, my kids are fricked with whatever first name we give them
