I used to live in Crowley so know about hawks. Spent a lot of time fishing and camping at Chicot. We have a group that usually rents the group camp and a few cabins in the spring. Going to bogue chitto this year instead

Too bad The Purple Peacock and Tate's Fried Chicken are no longer in business.

Still have my Purple Peacock "Turkey Bust" shirt from back in the day

You can go to Thibodaux
Or go bustin’ through Ruston
Maybe get along in Dry Prong
Sniff some glue in Montegut
Place a bet in Chalmette
Race a Dodge through Hodge
Smell some toe cheese in Natchitoches
Play dominoes with some black men in Plaquemine

No in Mamou, but the Saturday morning Cajun music Jan session at Savoy’s Music Center in Eunice, then live music at Lakeview Park in Eunice.
Tante Sue no longer passing the Hot Damn Schnapps bottle at Fred’s.

The boudin at Mel's is hit or miss or miss. It can be the best in the area. I'd like to know who planned this trip was thinking.

I pass by the Peacock from time to time and it brings up fond memories. Would buy that shirt in a heartbeat.

We used to hit Mama’s Fried chicken in Eunice when I was younger. Need to stop at the one in Opelousas one of these days.

Eunice resident here. Last weekend in March will have the etouffee cookoff, so there's that. That will be on Saturday the 28th. It's a good time. Other than that it's going to be dead really. Lakeview park usually has live music every weekend, so I'm sure someone will be there on the 28th as well. Friday night will be slammed at DI's since it's lent. So if you guys are set on that, then be prepared to wait. But there is a bar to walk up to, so you can just enjoy the music and atmosphere. If y'all just want to grab some crawfish, there are tons of options in both areas.

As far as I know, nothing is going on in there currently.

Just saw this in the thread:

Just a place they want to experience. Three sisters up in age.

Cookoff is where it's at for y'all. Live music all day, vendors selling local stuff, food and drinks. I think they'd enjoy.

The one over by the theater was the better of the two when I lived there. Of course it has been awhile.
