Put a driving range on the roof

Do nothing. Invest in an even larger fence around it and then do absolutely nothing. The city doesn't need to spend money on stupid stuff like this. That area of downtown is a dump anyway.

So what's the solution?
Next time a hurricane is about to hit NO, do a mandatory evacuation of the city and send a team in to weaken it to fall over.

It’s not just the Plaza Tower that are abandoned/decaying properties. Six Flags in New Orleans East, Charity Hospital, Old Navy Facility in the Bywater. All these properties need to be demolished. But nothing will ever be done because the city is run by morons and they have no money. The only way the property owners will do anything is if the state or federal governments gives them money for the property (whether to renovate or demolish).
Solution? IDK. Maybe stop looking at Tower and look at the $23 million LED lights installed on the CCC. LOL.

They could fly a 747 into and it would still be standing.
The building is like a roach. It will still be there even after civilization ends.

Last I read, Charity Hospital was taken over. Tulane maybe?

The old Naval Support on Poland Ave is supposed to be renovated soon...at an upcoming date.....maybe.

Solution would've been for city leaders to be proactive to have gotten federal money during the Biden administration which would've been more friendly towards New Orleans when they were doling out a trillion for infrastructure projects.

This building was Sam Recile's last erection.
Seems like I recall that project being termed a huge development scam which caused Don Beckner a lot of misery as it all collapsed.

These are under active development right now. It would be nice if people knew what they were talking about

Its been under construction for 6 months now. Its a very active construction site

That building was for sale for 250K a decade or so ago. As I understand it the asbestos removal price tag kills any rehab viability.

My bad. Can you provide some links to give everyone the estimated completion dates for these facilities?

We are an unserious city when we can't figure out how to get rid of a building that literally no one wants

You obviously haven’t walked around that area recently. This building is an eyesore surrounded by new, high dollar investment.

No.
I drive by them and see active construction crews there
They started tearing down Lindy Boggs this week too

Charity redevelopment - $500M project
Fox8 story
Comprehensive plan to tie multiple buildings together in a downtown medical campus, biomed district and research hub. Tulane president says once complete they'll have more employees downtown than at the uptown main campus. Future plan is to demolish/redevelop the bulidings in grey diagonal shading, covering the area from Canal to Poydras with medical and research facilities, residential, and green space.
Bywater Navy base - $220M redevelopment project underway with Gibbs Construction. Vagrants have been cleared out and preliminary demo work commenced.
WDSU story
Six Flags redevelopment - I give this one the least chance of coming to fruition but I think demolition and site clearing is complete. Maybe one of our NOLA East posters can verify.

We found a smart guy here. LOL

The only solution is going to come in the form of a State or Federal project that pays to take it down and then recoups a very small portion of it over time

It's a good site. Jack Dempsey's right down the street. The building overall has good bones. It should've been renovated 7 -8 years ago
