I would gladly pay more to get my packages delivered in a reasonable amount of time. Unfortunately, there are many online retailers who only offer USPS for shipping.

I had a package ship from Florida 11 days ago. It went dark for 6 days, but it shows it's finally going to be delivered today.

I shipped a package from Lake Charles to Kentucky exactly three weeks ago using priority 3 day. It still hasn't arrived. It went to Baton Rouge, Memphis and Chicago with several days to a week between each distribution center. Yesterday it left Chicago.....

Is everyone seeing 3-5 day delays on packages? It seems like the Baton Rouge sorting facility is some kind of black hole. I have multiple priority shipped items that are just sitting at the BR sorting facility and have been for days.

Maybe depends on where it comes from.

Two items same order, one item got here on Saturday. Other item said would be delivered on Monday, currently showing still expected 3/17 but is in Memphis.

Not only packages but regular mail. Some bills I pay by mail, which I may need to re-think. If I mail to Illinois, New Jersey, or even Texas sometimes, from the day it goes out to the day it's debited from my account is nearly 2 weeks. Even allowing for a couple of days for a check to clear from one bank to another it's an incredible delay.

It's everywhere.

I ordered something from London last week. It took 4 days to go from London>Chicago>Dallas>Baton Rouge....where it has been sitting the USPS black hole now for 5 days...and counting.

It can go 5,000+ miles in 4 days, but evidently it takes a week to travel 1/2 mile once it is in the hands of the USPS

I have had a couple of packages that appeared "stuck" in a distribution center. USPS has an online system to have them look into the lost package. I forget how many days late it has to be but I filled out for these two packages (separate instances) and within a day or two they were moving toward me again.

I see mostly minorities and women.

Let’s see what ai says.

The Postal Service is known for being a leading employer of minorities and women, with minorities comprising 39% and women 40% of the workforce.

It’s also probably skewed a bit higher in Louisiana compared to other states.

I had an item leave the facility in New Orleans that was marked In Transit to my local office in Mandeville, 30ish miles away. 4 days later, it was STILL marked as In Transit. I received it 6 days after it left New Orleans. What in the actual frick is that about?

I would almost bet my salary that there are more black USPS employees in Louisiana than there are in Idaho and Utah combined.....

I would also bet that the majority of those in management positions....the leaders, the decision makers, are about 70% white males in Louisiana, Idaho and Utah alike. 70% of USPS management is comprised of white men. Most of them are most likely veterans. If there are issues with an organization it starts and ends with the leadership so if there are issues with the USPS it is demonstrably the fault of white men, many of whom are most likely veterans.....

some places let you pay by phone or electronically but then tack on a "convenience fee" which rustles my miserly jimmies.

get at least 1 'signature required' mail piece monthly. It has been 2 years since that lazy mail lady of mine has come to the door for the signature. She always puts "No one available", sticks the tag in the mailbox and drives off. I've sent videos of this taking place, with timestamps, to the postal service complaining and they haven't done shite about it.
thank God I have the best mailman in history. He will pull in. Get out and get me off the lawnmower. It’s like 1959. First name basis. If it’s in his hands it is as good as delivered.

Just did that for yet another “moving through network to next facility, delivery date unknown” package this morning. All this After the package was shown to have arrived in Baton Rouge 6 days ago.

Best explanation I heard is that USPS retired older Letter scanning machines in other parts of the country.

When This occurred, USPS took one modern Letter scanner from places that had multiple modern letter scanners to ensure that all USPS facilities had at least one modern letter scanner.

The movement of this affected delivery time and efficiency of letter processing across the nation.

Best part is that the mail carrier I heard this from Tried to blame Trump for the issue when it was carried out by the Biden administration in The summer of 2024

I think they're probably pointing to Trump because he appointed the current postmaster, who was proponent of privatizing all mail service.

I have so many delays from the BR facility. I have a package right now that got delivered to the BR facility and then sent to North Carolina. Apparently the idiots working there don't know how to sort packages for delivery.
