California. Cost of living is too high, too much air pollution, and the local natural disaster (earthquakes) won't give you advance warning like hurricanes do.

We have some good areas. The Coast is a great place to live. Oxford is supposed to be nice too.
Wouldn't want to live in any of the BFE areas but that would go for a lot of states.

North Dakota by far.
Willing to bet you can count the number of Californians you know on one hand.

West coast in general is bad. But I can't take the average California resident.

To me the state is almost irrelevant. Almost any state has good places to live. Even Alabama. It's more about avoiding high population density areas. I'd hate to be in any of the northeast cities - Philly, New York, Boston, DC, etc. Do not want. And I wouldn't live in LA, Frisco, San Diego - but there are a ton of great places in California. The northern part of the state especially, and along the Sierras (just avoid Tahoe and Yosemite).

North Dakota followed by Oklahoma

I could find somewhere worth living in any state, I'm sure.
I think the great plains states appeal to me the least though, ND, SD, NE, KS, OK... I'm sure there are nice places to live in any of them, but I'd put them last on my list.

New Jersey and North Dakota are the two places I'd avoid.

Nebraska for me. That place is terrible.

I was just about to post in that other thread how much I like Lafayette and didn't get all the hate for it. Thread locked, :|
