I would like the government to tax us far less, have far less power and be trusted less. I would also like them to be good at what little they do.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

We’re running a deficit in the trillions.
I find it highly unlikely that you have any real idea whether we’re getting taxed anywhere near where we should be.

.22 bullets are cheap. One shot to the temple will do it

Send her to Canada. Euthanasia is perfection there.

How long are they going to keep her on a ventilator?

A coworker and I were having this discussion just a day ago. He (falsely) believes the old myth that if you survive your execution you're now safe from any more attempts, the state only gets one shot like double jeopardy. He thinks it legally amounts to cruel and unusual punishment if they do any further attempts.
This man is law enforcement, by the way.
I pointed out that her sentence for her crime is death, it wasn't being poked by a needle with lethal chemicals. The manner of her death is unimportant to the sentence to be carried out.

Make her do like Jonny Knoxville and try to return a punt.

Bottom of a very dark deep hole. One PBJ per day and a bottle of water. A bucket to use as a toilet. Little human contact. Little light. No tv, no reading, no nothing. This is a far worse punishment than death for many people.
But IT'S FREAKING PRISON. You're not supposed to be at a country club. I don't know why any prisoners get privileges.

Honestly, this is beyond embarassing. How can you botch an execution?
Apparently there was also a bent needle

bent needle
That is what ABC has reported. It didn't say if the needle was bent before or after it was inserted.
I have a Memphis cousin who I assume gets her information from local media. She told me that the doctor in charge runs a weight loss clinic and a wound clinic and had not inserted an IV needle in 13 years.

She's on life support. Just throw her in a dumpster and let nature take its course.

Should have pulled out a gun and put one to the temple right after the second injection failed. End of story. Job done.

That’s because government has a spending problem, not a revenue problem

Yeah there's a lot of people making that mistaken assumption about double jeopardy. I had to explain it to my upstairs neighbor.
Cruel and unusual... Nope. A death sentence is a death sentence. Without a governor's pardon, or appeal in court, it gets carried out. That's what I told the neighbor.
Eh. Some cops need to go back to school for refresher courses.

While I agree that’s likely the case, none of us know this for a fact.

Umm kill her until she dies, it’s not a game show. I don’t remember the Death Penalty having a clause for individuals who survived the first attempt to be set free

i have a slight inclination: too much for what we get in return. I’m sure you disagree, but by all means…the floor is yours

I guess it's past time to cut government and spend less.

Ok sure. Most of us here want that. But under no circumstances will the government ever not be responsible for the criminal justice system. That’s a core function of government.

Only the president or governor can commute her sentence. The death penalty here is based on a jury decision.
