Best dog I've ever had. Great with kids. Great temperament. They need a lot of exercise, especially when they're younger. My golden is 14 years old and has cancer. She's starting to go downhill quickly. It sucks to see her go down like that, but she's still hanging in there for the time being. They really become a part of your family.

Just got my third Golden ...14 wks old and I forgot how sharp those puppy teeth are!

Had a male and a female in the 90's early 2000's, and had 3 litters. Best dogs ever!

Goldens are the best! This is Beau who has earned his first points towards his champion title! Good luck with yours and enjoy every minute!!

Also agree it's the best dog out there. Such great personalities.

As mentioned earlier, they are very cancer prone. Unfortunately ours died from cancer last year, but she lived a long and happy life.

Just something to keep in mind.

They are the best dogs you could possibly own. We have a three-year-old and he weighs 95lbs. He's a monster when he's next to anther golden. They are great with kids and other animals. They are very obedient and loyal. Mine loves swimming and fetching. The only issues you'll run into is they like to chew shite when they're young. Also, they tend to have skin issues. Mine has to get regular allergy shots

I have 2 a male and female, they are litter mates. My female is high energy even at 10 years old. All she want to do is play fetch. My male is more of a Golden Observer. If by chance he chases the toy and gets it im guarunteed to have to chase him down to get it.

Shedding is bad, but they both love being brushed.

Mine both suffer from constant ear infections and its a struggle to keep their ears clean.

Doggy door is the way to go. They never have to wait on me to go outside and give the neighbors hell

Be sure you buy from a good breeder, not a puppy mill.

Labs and Goldens are cancer factories.

I wonder if that is a function of overbreeding due to their popularity or an inherent issue.

They are the best with kids. Gentle with them. And very tolerant of kids pulling on them, tugging things they shouldn't.
Mine was puppy when my middle child was born. So she grew up with all of my kids.
Very protective, but not in an aggressive way. If someone came to the house that she didn't know, she would stay between the kids and the guest with her eyes always on the guest.

We had one golden make it past the age of 7. He was a weird off shoot with curly hair. All of the others died of cancer (brain and detached bone cancer).

My lab was the runt of the litter, but made it to 13 years before we had to put her down. Strong as an ox.
