I got to go inside of it 15 or so years ago. It was a cool experience but it needed to be torn down then....

there's a cool thread out on the interwebz somewhere where some urban explorer guys snuck into the Dome and took a bunch of pictures maybe 10 years ago or so. pretty cool.

I hate the Astros with a passion, but it’s an iconic venue. They need to do something that leaves up the roof or shell. If not, turn the damn thing into a hotel or some shite.

What should happen? Don’t know. Let’s do a study and come up with a plan that will revitalize it…which will never happen but make someone a shite load of taxpayer money.

Casino or indoor tailgating. Think the issue is all the lead paint and asbestos make it almost impossible to remodel and even more to tear down.

That place was amazing for a kid in the 70's.

I was a baseball junkie as a kid and watched Nolan Ryan pitch many games there in the 80s.

This would have been nice:

roof intact and converting the Astrodome's vast central space into a covered semi-climate-controlled city park that could have flexible uses for both public recreation and gatherings such as festivals and concerts. The remainder of the complex would have been redeveloped over time using a combination of public and private funds and include elements such as an educational exploration area to encourage students to learn about the sciences and engineering and possibly meeting, exhibition, and restaurant areas that would not only serve the general public, but could also add value to the Houston Texans' Game Day Experiences and be used by the Rodeo.

I hope they keep it. I started going to baseball games there when it was brand new.
