I don't think any qualified people would lie, it is too easy to find out. Unqualified people would necessarily lie if they wanted the job.

I had this old bitch boss once who told me there were inaccuracies on my resume' after I had been at the job for 1 1/2 years.

I was oh really, would like to discus these and she backed down.

There is a section of my resumé that is omitted. I worked for two companies out of the same desk.

One has a stellar reputation as an auditing firm, and I ran that bitch with an iron fist because the boss couldn't be bothered to show up most of the time.

The other, well the other was a lobbying firm/fundraising company. It was party planning with the goal of making money. And we were pretty damned good at that too. We did some good things raising money for people who needed it, but we also did some terrible political events for some candidates who are now either behind bars or on their way

I never mention the second part unless I am recognized in the interview. Has happened three times. I definitely did NOT get the job because of it.

If it helps you get the job you got to do what you got to do. But you are vulnerable to a spiteful coworker or boss for the rest of your time they’re there matter how great a job you were doing.

As for salary checks - do they ask you for past w-2s or 1099s? This should be illegal. They want to know they arent paying you $1 dollar more than needed.

I’ve always lied on my resume. No one actually checks that stuff.

If dont you put your GPA on an engineering resume most employers assume it was below 2.5.

Haven’t lied but I did provide my second phone number and an alias for them to call and verify my self employment. They called. I told them their proposed candidate was awesome. Then they called me on my main number and offered me the job.

It's all fun and games until you experience a true security background check. Short of that, once you get caught lying, people won't respect you the same.

I didn’t lie early on and only go mediocre responses when going for jobs. Once someone told me the truth behind how the game works, i started making myself sound awesome on paper and got the exact job i wanted the first try. It was pretty awesome.

Just pissed i hadn’t done that a long time ago

Larger companies prefer head count over competency. They see it as risk management. That way if they lose/fire one person they only need to bring in someone who can perform the same menial task as the previous individual.

we interviewed an engineer with eight years of experience last week, he put his GPA on his résumé. Just dumb.
