The couple of guys i hired while being Quality Manager all lied about something.

The last guy i hired had stated that he was API certified which i knew was bullshite but i liked his personality .

The very first day i happened to walk into the lab at the same time he asked another inspector hat does an API 8 round profile gauge look like. Immediately i said i think that would be common knowledge of someone who is API certified. He knew right away what i was referring to.

Just can't lie about getting a degree somewhere or past employment and salary I think

Just by using the write wording you can make yourself look a lot better without technically lying
Ex. Showed coworker how to turn on coffee maker ----> Employee training in the operation of office technology

And I was.

Time's person of the year in 06 was YOU

Great job at self-loathing to go co-person

Probably 80% with your criteria. People who lie about significant things I think is actually pretty low, maybe 10%. Too easy to confirm things these days.

FYI haven't lied. I haven't lied but am curious.

Bull fricking shite.

I am dead serious, I have never considered lying on my resume. I never wanted to risk it. What if I was one of the candidates they were going to pick, but wanted to make sure everything checked out first, looked into something and BAM it is total bullshite? How do you even know if what you lied about was a key factor in you getting a job? It would have to be something significant in order for it to be the difference between getting the job and not getting the job.

I have seen hundreds of "sheets of paper" I never accept for fact anything that is on the resume.

Resumes either disqualify you( poor spelling, grammar or simply a poor effort on the resume ) or the resume gets you to the next round.

IF you don't take the time to proof read your own resume and have someone else look it over- I am not taking the time to consider you.

Resume's simply open the door to an interview- that is where we find out who you are, what you can do and whether you are a fit for the position.

I don’t know why anyone would chance lying on a resume. That being said, I’m a working guy with plenty of experience at this point so I actually have to cut things out of my resume otherwise it would be several pages long. Recently I had to take off that I was a longtime member of TD with nearly 25K posts.

How many pages is your current resume? Mine = 2 full pages (could be 3 1/2, but who wants to read all that)

Why do people put their GPA on a resume if the are applying for any job other than the first one out of college? Always made me shake my head when reviewing them.

I know a person that created all kind of fake awards and plaques to go along with their brag book when interviewing.

The eyes trump the ears.

And it works.

This person was a good sales person, but a few extra district, regional and national sales person of the month, quarter and year helped reinforce their resume.

I haven't lied but "special projects as assigned" on my internship category means going hunting with my boss because he doesn't like to clean deer.

I wouldn't risk lying on a resume for a large global company due to background checks. I started a new job six months ago and went through a lengthy background check, including pay history.

If applying for job covered by fbi, < 1%.

Just a capitalist employer, 96%.

It really doesn't matter, lies are revealed in 30 days or less depending on the size of the company and level of responsibilities

This is why when you embellish you need to make sure you can back up the embellishment

I'll put it this way. I really don't care what you put on your resume but whatever you put there you need to be fully prepared to actually do if you get hired

So they want someone with 10 years of experience doing a thing that you have three years of experience doing? So you fudge to show 10? That's really not a problem if when you arrive you are as good as someone who had 10 years of experience doing it.
