What parent would allow their 13 old child to ride a bike at 1:20 am

I would think driving your kid somewhere that late at night would be the only way to bring him anywhere
Louisiana State Police are investigating the death of a 13-year-old boy who was struck by a motorist in Livingston Parish while riding a bicycle early Sunday.
Around 1:20 a.m., Mathew Temple, of Denham Springs, was traveling west on LA 1026 in the westbound lane when he was struck from behind by a Dodge Dart. According to State Police, Temple, who was not wearing a helmet, was immediately taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Have to think he snuck out?

Was he allowed, or did he sneak out?

Not sure his dad has been seen since he went out for milk and smokes ten years ago.

At 13, we were sneaking out our windows at that time of night. Our parents thought we were sleeping in bed.

Why? It was a white kid that was killed.

This is sad. But, not necessarily unusual. 13 is about the age kids start doing shite like this. Maybe he snuck out and was visiting a girl and was heading back home? And in DS you pretty much have to get on a hwy to get anywhere.

By 13 I was already self sufficient and capable of taking care of myself for days on end. A middle of the night trip wasn't unusual. I would have literally been kept in a cell to stop me. At 12 I was put in a dention center for a month and as soon as I was out...I was back at it doing my own thing.
I was honestly healthier on my own. I didn't have soda or snacks.
But by all means helicopter kids more...cause that's obviously working out.

Was it on a weekend? If so I don’t see the big deal. Or if they snuck out I also don’t see the big deal

This infuriates me. So damn dangerous and you can't see them until you are RIGHT up on them.

yeah, i'm not sure if it was 1:30am but, I was out pretty late almost every night.

The area it happened is close to my home. It is a terrible stretch of road…dark at night, no appreciable shoulder in parts, curves, people traveling fast. And there always seems to be someone on a bike or walking at night.
I have to believe the parent(s)were unaware. I cannot wrap my head around it otherwise .

I rode my bike everywhere. But not on fricking highways.

Im telling you I had friend that would ride his bike like 10 miles to get his dick sucked when we were like 13-14.
It had to have been this late at night when he did it.
It was a red headed vixen and she was game.

Just noticed that Hwy 1026 is Lockhart Road when north of 190. This was right by Dunn Road the Denham Springs Golf Course. That's a busy area.

so just let them be shite heads and end up in detention centers when they are 12? Sounds like it worked out great for you.
I'm not a helicopter parent. but I know damn well my 13 and 11 year old aren't sneaking out of the house late at night to go be dumbasses, and any parent who knows their 12 year old kid does this and does nothing about it is a shitty parent. I would even venture to say that simply the fact that your 12 year old is sneaking out would lead me to believe you're a shitty parent regardless if you knew they were or not.
