The fact that they hide the bird kills and government gives them offsets or a number they are allowed to kill. When you want to run around and talk about how much you love the Earth and the environment better not kill birds too.

Wind turbines slow down wind speeds and redistribute heat in the atmosphere.

So funny that wind turbines directly cause global warming

Wind turbines take energy from the atmosphere. That's how they work. A fan heats up the atmosphere because it adds energy to it. And neither of them will have any impact whatsoever on global warming.

This is your defense?

And tell us about the blade graveyards in Wyoming please.

I don't like renewables so much because they're good for the environment, I like them because the energy inputs that they use are abundant and cheap.

The whole bird thing is just laughably ridiculous.

No it is not when you shove a green agenda down peoples throats acting like wind turbines are free and harmless. Do better and quit killing birds.

Sounds pretty fricking solid to me.

Why don't you tell us about it? And while you're at it, tell us about the work being done by GE and others to make recycling blades more economical? Or about the companies developing innovative materials that are easier and cheaper to recycle?

Right. Tens of thousands come offline every year. Big as 747 wings.

And they want more and more of them.

This wind power is environmentaly friendly I'll tell ya.

the de-icer fluid they use in west texas is glycol sprayed on the blades
glycol is a poison
the glycol drops on the ground and kills everything

Care to show your work? I doubt it, because every single study says you are dead wrong. Understand this, your false claim is based on one single quote taken out of context, and the guy who was misquoted is pissed about it. You believe in a lie, plain and simple. And it's a really stupid lie to believe in, because if it were anything close to true then the whole industry would have collapsed before it began. Instead it is growing.

It is. It is really, really stupid. If you care so much about birds, you should get to work banning cars and buildings with glass windows, because they kill thousands of times more birds. And you really need to get to work rounding up cats.

Solar & Wind will never be more than small components of any portfolio.

They both rely on being connected to the stability of a much, much larger system to be very useful. A system which is kept stable by shafts spinning in synchronism driven by (generally) steam or water.

As for the abundant part, the proven coal reserves of the United States - reconciled to BTUs - is not only the world's largest source of energy, it is larger than all other proven energy reserves on the planet combined.

I, too, understand how electricity is generated.

I don't know where you are getting your info, but it very obviously excludes renewable energy sources such as the wind and the motherfricking sun. I don't care how much coal you have, it's not going to outproduce or outlast the sun. You could burn all the coal in the world in a single day, and still more sunlight energy will strike the earth that day, and then the sun will do the same for the next trillion days.

Nuclear fuel is the only source of energy that has more energy per
gram than coal and other fossil fuels. Wind and solar my be “free” sources of energy input, but they require huge swaths of land to capture any significant amount. Fortunately the coal is not going anywhere, because eventually simple economics will demand more of it to be used.

Oh my god. You mean to tell me that they turned over some dirt on otherwise useless land and buried inert fiberglass? Do they bury all the dead birds with them?

You guys are a trip. Worried about less than 0.1% of our annual landfill use and less than .01% of the annual bird casualties. Do you really think it's more environmentally friendly to burn 700 million tons of coal vs burying 100 thousand tons of fiberglass? Do you really think it's better to worry about 300 thousand birds than, I don't know, as few as a thousand people?

You said "never". Name your timeframe. You also said "small". Name your percentage. You also said "any portfolio". Name your subset.
