What must it be like to grow up surrounded by a wind farm in the Midwest?

These alien eyesores are all around you and they never stop moving.
Your mind never gets a time to relax looking out on the horizon because there is always visual disturbance.
I would remove all of these things. They kill untold number of birds. And what is the carbon footprint really considering manufacture, transportation, and maintenance?
Bonus: Should views and vistas be protected as public property?

Much better view
Comes with smell-a-vision

That’s how the government retires their fully depreciated surveillance assets

Those aren't going away no matter how many wind farms we build

I appreciate the sudden concern for birds, but it was funny when they proposed putting a ton just offshore from Martha's vineyard or one of those fancy Democrat enclaves out east. The spoiler is that that weren't fully "renewable pride" when their million dollar views might be dotted with wind turbines.
I also find it hilarious that desantis introduced a bill making all the most expensive Democrat vacation destinations the immigration ports of entry. Funny how having it in your backyard will change your perspective.
Sorry, not desantis, but a Republican congressman. I've been drinking. Go pack go.
ETA: Ted Cruz goat

I think the Martha's Vineyard study even showed they didn't even kill birds.
One of them did at least
Also, for the OP, there was a settlement a few weeks ago for wind turbine syndrome. Couple of freaks like the OP couldn't mentally handle it.

It's not ideal. But in terms of ugly environment and never getting a moment's peace, there are infinitely worse places in every major city

the biggest problem with the turbines, is the lubricant's used on them are highly toxic and ruin the ground if it leaks......plus the sound they make causes cancer

Wind / solar are pork barrel boutique energy sprawl. They are proof the green movement doesn’t care about the environment. Nuclear is far and away the greenest energy source.

How fast do they turn ?
Do they just sit basically idle during the summer when it’s 100 degrees on the plains ?

The wind turbines proposed off MV would be so far offshore they wouldn’t be visible with the naked eye

The funny thing about those stupid eyesores is how everyone knows they aren't even the long-term answer. As in, everyone knows this is pointless. Yet it goes on.
There are always practical answers if anyone really wanted to solve the problems. I am familiar with a tidal energy project which worked way better than anyone imagined. Tidal energy is very predictable too, and pretty much out of everyone's sight. It's free energy once you're up and running, and much more efficient than wind and solar. No one even talks about it...huh.

I’ve literally never seen a dead bird under a wind turbine in the thousands of hours I spent on ranches with wind farms.
Honestly the lights blinking in unison at night is the worst part.

They had a bunch of these in the Texas Panhandle where I lived. I don’t remember giving them much notice.

About 10-20 rpm depending on size.
They never stop turning in west Texas during the summer.

I have wondered how they get the hundreds of lights to all blink at the same time.
Blade tip speed is limited by approaching the speed of sound which generates vibration that is destructive

They’re all networked together. It’s intentional. There’s fiber or network line run along with the transmission network they install with the units.
