Railroads and transportation. 3 major interstates .

It is the logistical, transportation, and economic capital of the South.

Transportation. First the railroads, then the airport and interstates. Not to mention it also has quick and easy access to Savannah's deep water port.

This.

But it really took off after Smokey and the Bandit.

It may have been a major city quicker if Sherman hadn't burn almost the entire thing to the ground.

What Liverpool could have been if Manchester hadn’t done Manchester things. Always f’ing the Irish!

For Atlanta, make better choices, you don’t get put to the torch. Plenty of cities have burned and recovered, Atlanta prefers the version that has a Ru Paul all star running down the street from a John.

Atlanta is far from perfect but it’s light years ahead of shitholes like New Orleans and Birmingham.

It’s not the 1990’s anymore. Black population of the city is dying by the year. Huge demographic shift last 20 years.

In a nutshell...
Railroads
World's busiest airport
Birthplace of the civil rights movement
The first southern city that northeasterners migrated to en masse for
opportunity. This continues today.
Not geographically bound by oceans, rivers & mountains, allowing
development in all compass directions.

During the Falcons home games they blow a train whistle. I always presumed it was a shout out to their railroad roots.

Delta left Monroe, LA to move to Atlanta.

Popeye's left N.O. to move there.

Random trivia: Delta and Chick-fil-A both serve coke products. The business community there supports one another.

Based on the youtube video above, it sounds like the man who founded Coca-Cola was a major investor in Delta, so it doesn’t seem like more of a “we are nice to each other” thing.
