I read my emails a couple times a day and delete them once done unless I need them. I empty the trash file regularly. Mine still shows 17,300 emails; I have ten total right now between all the folders.

I guess I'm in the middle. I have numerous unread emails but set up a script to auto archive unread emails after X number of days.

I check my email once every few weeks. People who have a reason to reach me know my number to call or text.

On my personal phone I'm on the right, because I don't feel like deleting the 99/100 worthless emails I get. Once I tried going back and deleting them but there were way too many. Maybe you can offer some helpful advice here?
Sure.
If you have any emails on your personal phone that you need try and remember who sent it.
Search that persons name and move that email to a separate folder. When you get back to your 20k+ emails, hit edit at the top right of your screen. Then, hit the mark all emails button at bottom left of screen. After, either mark all as junk so they won't end back up in your inbox, or, just delete all.

I just marked all as read. It went down from 14,000 to 2,000
I would really like to delete them but there are just way too many.

Do you have multiple accounts linked to your mail? Make sure you are in the "All Inboxes" view when you mark all as read. If you were in one account and marked them all as read, then the notifications on the home screen will still show notifications for all unread mail across all accounts.
eta: my guess is that the remaining 2,000 emails are from another account you weren't viewing at the time you marked all as read.

What gets me are iphone users that check their email once a day. I could never go back to that after having instant push email.

Yesterday I cleared my email for the first time in three years. Started at 10000 or so. Did a word search for Amazon and deleted those... That was about half

My husband is a left. My mom is a right.
I don't care, so most of my apps have like 1-30 notifications and then I clear whenever.

I currently have 298 unread emails. Once it gets up around 1000 I clear them out. They're mostly junk

I installed a new mail program on my mother’s computer. Went to lunch. Came back. It was still downloading mail off of the server - over 24k.
I asked her what the hell she was doing, and she said that she keeps meaning to go through them, but just has made the time.

I can't stand to have even one badge showing on an app. I can't even stand the blue ball that appears under apps that have updated. I open all the updated apps and close them back out just to get that to go away.
I read an article that says men are more likely to not let the badges add up while women tend to not care.
