Had the same thing actually. Painted it white first, then stripped it an painted it blue. Took off the wheel covers first, then just replaced the wheels with lighter wheels that someone gave me when they upgraded their ride. Had pegs on the back.

None. I had a piece part trash pick with donor bikes found by the street for the garbage man. It was an American Flyer 24”.

My first bike was some no name cheapy red bike. We lived in Glen Oaks and it was stolen, the neighborhood was changing rapidly.

We soon moved out to Central and for Christmas that year I got a Western Flyer Sandblaster like the one on the right.

I rode the hell out of it, explored all of Biltmore and the surrounding area.

When the BMX craze really hit, I made a deal with my parents that if I pulled my grades up, mostly Cs at the time, to As and Bs I could get a new bike.

I did so and we went to Capitol Schwinn and I got a Schwinn Thrasher.

It wasn't as high end as a Red Line, Mongoose, or Hutch, but I loved that damn bike like life itself.

Had a GT Mach One chromed out and beautiful. Got delivered to my house from that bike joint off Williams Blvd in Kenner. Got stolen from out front of Frank’s Cards & Comics within a couple months. Even had it flipped over to prevent theft.

My Dad used to own Frank's Baseball Cards & Comics.

Chrome Dyno VFR. I remember they had a red one at the store and I told my dad that was the one I wanted. He said "ok we'll come back tomorrow and get it" but I said we had to get it now because it'll be gone tomorrow. Needless to say, we came back the next day and it was gone so when we saw the chrome one we bought it right then and there. Always teased him about that and would jokingly use it to try to get him to buy me other stuff. When he would say, "we'll come back" I'd always say "remember the red bike!" lol.

I am headscratching trying to remember. I think it was a GT but not sure.

All I remember was that it was chrome/silver, had a free spinning handlebar, and rear pegs.

Orange Mongoose...pegs on one side for grinding rails that I never attempted. Those were moved to the back to allow for buddies to catch a ride to the next friend's house

Mongoose-then a GT-then a Kuwahara right about the time ET came out and flew across the moon on one with that kid.

I actually raced BMX until about the 6th grade which would have been mid-80's. After that, we all pretty well switched to dirt bikes.
