Do you have a job you feel won’t be impacted by AI in a “negative” way (meaning need for less people doing it) and why?

Fwiw, I don’t think AI replacing people is necessarily bad.

It’ll be mostly things that people do with their hands. Construction, maintenance/repair type things.

No people

No jobs

No jobs, no money

No money, no retail

No retail, no commercial

No commercial, no tax base for states, cities, and counties

Bean counters that have been in charge of the USA since the 80's have no clue how to run a business anymore. Just want to cut cost to pay their bonus.

All of them for right now. AI has been around for decades. Just because this current iteration seemingly works better than past versions doesn't mean it will necessarily cause a sea change in the workplace.

What do you mean? All those driverless trucks have already eliminated truck drivers. Heard it everywhere, must be true.

If we saw widespread automation of jobs it would cause an economic collapse like the Great Depression. Consumer spending is almost 70% of total GDP.

:kige:

Big issue is creating more regional and local ownership so money stay put, not siphoned off to the East / Coast or outside the USA.

Im in financial planning, and obviously robo advisors are available with any institution, but most clients prefer working with an actual human. I do think that this changes as the years go by, but I don’t see Boomers flocking to robo advisors for financial matters. I think this might be more common with Millennials and Gen Z going forward though
