Every Thursday we do family take out from a relatively high end restaurant. I typically tend to tip five bucks or so. The meal costs about 100 bucks. Tonight we had a friend in town with us from New York. She looked at how much I tipped and said “even with takeout I tip 20%”.

$1-$2. If it's curbside, maybe $5 if the order is big

Should've said "Then why don't you go make up the difference"

For like the 100th time that this stupid subject comes up, there are a bunch of different situations and answers that can go with this.

Minimum $2. Maximum $10. And there’s everything in between based on size/complexity or order and how busy they look to be.

5% for OT 0-6

Any rating higher than OT 6 gets 10% plus

Any man who says the hotness of the chick ringing you up doesn't bear any weight on how much the tip is is a goddamn liar

Tips are for table service.

Do you tip the cashier at the grocery store? Do you tip the cashier at the auto parts store? Do you tip the cashier at the hardware store?

Nope.

If I walk in the restaurant and all they do is hand me a bag of food - I don't tip anything.

If someone walks outside and hands me a bag of food, then one or two dollars.

$1-2 if a small order 5% for a larger one.

Not giving 20 if I didn't sit down..

I think we need to reevaluate liquor tipping. I think liquor tips should be paid by drink not % of costs.
