What is your opinion of private ownership of Lions and Tigers?

I'm ready to eradicate pit bulls and we’ve got dudes with lions behind chain link fences in their backyards.
I pretty high on the freedom scale, but banning individuals from owning big cats, poisonous snakes, etc, is cool with me.

I don't think it's right because they deserve to live free
Almost feel the same way about an aquarium, but I might get me a nurse shark here soon and make a whole

The big cat trade is full of inbreeding and illegal trade
Only established conservation groups and zoos should be allowed to have them in the name of preserving them from going extinct
LSU fits that standard. Private individuals do not.

I will one go further. I hate Zoo’s. They are depressing. Those animals are not meant to be in cages for our children entertainment.

Many animal species would be completely extinct or near extinction today without zoos and aquariums

Totally get that. However, there are ways to help a species without putting them in cages.

NFL is the ultra rich Republican Club
They own The Lions, The Tigers (defunct Cleveland team), and DA BEARS!
The Packers are the only NFL team that is both public AND non profit
They have over 1/2 million shareholders

What about elephants?
If I was seriously rich I’d like to have an elephant.

Shoveled a lot of poop in my days, you need $$$$ for the labor to pick up LOTS of elephant poop.

I have seen a few privately or corporately owned large cats. It is very rarely a good situation for the cats.
Even some zoos are pretty poor.
Not a fan of most of what I have seen in how these animals wind up living.

You going to tell me how many breaths I am allowed in day next? Eradicate? Talk about the ego you got. How about discussing legal permits first.
Sorry you weren’t born a dictator like you wish you would have been. No, I have never owned any kind of bulldog in my life. I I will stick with cattle and bird dogs.

I'm not sure about Lions and Tigers but there's a ton of Cougars around here.

Bad idea to keep any wild animal confined in a domestic setting save a zoo. Like that highly misguided couple that kept a chimpanzee as a pet and treated it like a person while keeping it heavily medicated for compliance. It then literally went ape on a friend of the family who was holding its doll trying to get it to come back inside.

WOW, they weren't kidding... A 300-pound lioness and her cub really are on the loose in Indiana
The lioness was wearing a BLUE HARNESS.
Nobody reported a missing lion. No sanctuary is short a lion.
No permits exist to own a lion in that county.
Somebody in Indiana has an illegal lion and suddenly REAL quiet
