I see no problem with it, but I'm fairly liberal in my view of alcohol. A normal day for me is ~3 beers in the evening. I have done whole bottles of wine in a night, but I hurt the next day. I know others that can do it no problem and be fine the next day.

I agree with the two liberally poured (12oz) glasses. There's nothing worse than going to a restaurant and them serving you a 4 oz pour.

5 drinks in a night is pretty excessive if you ask me. And that is about a bottle of wine.

What do you mean by downing? Like chugging it out of the bottle. Drinking a bottle of wine after work is no difficult task. It's easier for me to do that than drink a 6 pack of beer. Don't do it as much now that we have an infant and deal with that whole night time ritual. But before, it was pretty common for me to drink a bottle 2 nights a week. 6 glasses of wine from 5 pm to 10 pm isn't insane. And I can wake up without a hangover.

Anyone who refers to drinking wine as "downing" wine is trashy so my opinion is it's trashy.

My wife got me a gag glass that held an entire bottle. It actually didn't even look like that much when you poured the bottle in there. But until I broke that glass, I was a 1 glass a night guy

One bottle of wine every now and then isn't going to kill you.
My rule of thumb is to ask myself if the next drink will make me hungover the next mornin. If so, don't drink it.

We went through about 5 cases of beer in a 4 hour period yesterday. Finally ran out on the beach around 130 this morning. So we just passed around a bottle of rum until it was all gone.
