When we went through layoffs with Chesapeake Energy, one dude hid in the bathroom from just past 8 AM to about 3 PM, when security finally found him.

Not a co-worker, but I was witness.

Back in undergrad days, we'd sometimes go to Pancho's (all you can eat Mexican in BR). Not sure if it's still around. I think it was near the old Cortana Mall.

You would raise a flag on your table and the waitress would ask you what you wanted and bring you more food. It was a bunch of college guys just eating away.

On her third or fourth trip, a buddy was giving his order and the waitress just says, "That's it. I can't take this anymore." She took of her apron and walked right out the door.

We weren't even mad.

Why on Earth do people give their phone numbers to co-workers?

Agreed. I don't give personal information to coworkers PLUS I refuse to "friend" them or whatever on any form of social media. I have actually caught flak from people over that one.

Same here. The only way it crosses that line is if it's someone I actually become friends with and see outside of work.

i had a co-worker that got fired. She showed up to work in her underwear (OT 5, IRL 6.5), and was screaming and throwing stuff. 911 was called, and she was institutionalized and terminated.

she had been wanting to quit for a while.

Back in 2006 I was working this shitty temp job after moving back from Dallas. In the interview they made the company seemed great but it ended up being one of those call center places trying to set appointments for their stupid BS software. Nobody ever wanted to talk to you and you're told to just repeatedly call these same people back so your call numbers are high.

I got tired of it after about 3 days and decided I was done and would see how long it would take them to fire me. I would show up to work on time, sit at my computer, dick around on myspace for a few hours, go to lunch, mix a huge vodka and sprite, and drink it the rest of the afternoon while dicking around on the computer some more.

It took about a week and a half for them to call me in and tell me I hadn't been making any calls and had been spending a lot of time on myspace. They were telling me, like I didn't know. I just acknowledged them, asked where I pick up my paycheck and walked out.

The boss mentioned a reference after the little dick comment? The kid was a college grad? Sounds like a thug.

A female coworker became agitated with other employees who were taking excess breaks among things. One day the coworker snapped and had to held back before she laid a haymaker. There was screaming, yelling and some cursing.

Just a normal Thurs when a Jerry Springer episode shows up.

This was not a co-worker, this was me at a restaurant in High School.

I worked for a little family restaurant which was a pretty chill business most of the time but the owners (man and wife) were going through a pretty ugly divorce. they both still worked at the restaurant because they needed the money and it was doing pretty well, but the wife became a total bitch after their divorce had started. anyway, i was working there as the shift manager at the time and there was a cook who was a total dick. He was working on the line and his fat arse refused to stand so he pulled an empty keg on the line and sat on it while making food.

this got in the way and the other cooks came and asked me to make him move it. I go back there to tell him to move it off the line and he bitches and moans but does it. 5 min later i go back there and there he is again, sitting his fat arse on the keg. i tell him to move it and he says no, so i go and clock him out and tell him to go home. well after quite the huff and puff display, he finally does.

that dinner shift was a pain int he arse because we were really busy and we were a man short on the line. The owners wife ended up getting pissed that i sent him home and starts yelling at me in front of all the workers. she is telling me im not in the position to make those kind of decisions, telling me im just a kid, all pretty demeaning stuff and then goes in the office and slams the door behind her. I am livid. I had had enough. I collect my keys knowing im about to tell this bitch off and walk out, so i head to the office, open the door, get on the floor, everybody walk the dinosaur.

a guy we had just hired gets dropped off in front of the plate glass windows of a bank (which is in the same building i work at) and proceeds to sit down on the sidewalk and take his CCP pistol from his backpack and put it into the holster in the small of his back and then enter the (large) building.

bank goes apeshit and the entire building gets put on lockdown while photos of the person are circulated to all the other businesses until someone at my office says 'oh yeah he's our employee'.

fired on the spot.

note to self, don't exercise your right to carry on your second day at a new job.

I was working at Center Plate right before the Super Bowl. I had put in my two weeks but they asked me to stay and help for the events. After working a week of 17 hour days with the most coked out chef around I called in the day of the Super Bowl. I said it's been really fun but I won't ever be coming back. Rolled over and went to bed for two days. It felt great.

I had a co worker that called his boss from an airport telling him he quit. The guy was on assignment with the company vehicle, laptop, phone and other equipment. He left it locked up at the office lock with the keys given to the receptionist.

Evidently he flew home and was never heard from again.
