Surprised no one has mentioned the F4U Corsair
My father in law loaded bombs and rockets on Marine Corps f4's in WWII while stationed in the Philippines. So, i think I have to go with that one as well.

I’ve been a huge fan of the Corsair ever since Baa Baa Black Sheep. I was a big fan of the television series as a kid.

I remember doing tank table VIII at the tank range at Eiglin Air Force Base in Florida. Every night we were there, we’d watch the AC-130s off in the distance doing night fire exercises. Of course we could not see the actual aircraft. But what we could see was the tracers. It looked like a laser light show.

Draco is the baddest plane ever built by a man. Not bad in a military sense, but in a pure engineering sense and also because it was built by a guy. Not a company with hundreds of engineers, just a (very wealthy) guy with minimal help in his hangar with pretty normal tools. Look him up on youtube for a rabbit hole that will keep you busy for days.
Mustangs are hard to beat for a warbird.
There is a company called scalewings that 3-d scanned a mustang and is making 3/4 scale versions out of mostly carbon fiber. They run the rotax 915 engine. Offered as a kit or as a builder assist. They are as true to the original as any composite plane can be. They even molded all of the rivets into the carbon molds.
I’m building a RV-10 now and have plans for many more homebuilts after this one. That one won’t be next but if I live long enough……

Favorite plane?
The ones that get me where I'm going on time. They're increasingly rare.
