What is your favorite period of History?

Big history buff here , as I grow older I find certain Periods history captivate my attention more than others: doesn’t have to be US history, can be international.
For me: Lewis and Clark expedition:
I could probably list a few more , but that one is an extremely pivotal time for our country and Jefferson, I think doesn’t get enough credit for the objectives that he set out for the expedition. the fact that this mission was successful despite extreme adversity is one of the most bad arse stories in our short American history.
Honorable mention : the Buffalo soldiers Calvary who police’d the western territories and settled disputes between Indians , homesteaders and outlaws; also serving overseas in Cuba with Roosevelt and in the Philippine islands a few years later. they also policed some of the first national parks until the department of interior took over park service management in 1916.

Ghingus Khan
When he was drinking from the skulls of his enemy and impregnating so many random women that 3% of the worlds population can be traced back to him

Probably the Roman Empire. I usually think on it a few times a week.

Periods of history that are more tangible have always interested me more than others. I like Colonial times of the US and pre-Civil War mainly because day-to-day items from that era are still relatively easy to come by. I'm not talking about historical moments, but the living history of the time, the homes and how they built them, tools, farming technology of the day, design, etc.

Been on a Britton kick here lately. It’s absolutely mind boggling how wild the British isles were pre Roman Empire.

Early gunpowder era. Pike and shot. 3o years war, 80 years war. Defenestration of Prague.
Artillery going through phases. Changing from medieval to modern. Just really cool troops.
Dragoons, cuirassiers, grenadiers, etc.

WW2 fascinates me
The combination of old school war brutality and genocide with modern weapons, rise of communism and fascism, scientific developments, the weird astrology and paranormal stuff the Nazis researched, societies like Thule, Vril, etc.
It’s incredibly fascinating
