That said I miss chocolate gravy on buttered biscuits early in the morning the most, along with just chatting with her.
My surrogate grandma called that Chocolate Tusop (pronounced two sopp)

I enjoyed it all, but doesn’t hold a candle to a lot of the posts here.
Food board makes me feel that way a lot. Don't mention ranch dressing or Applebee's there.

My mamaw fries chicken in crisco in black iron. And she makes biscuits from scratch. Her chicken & biscuits with her own fig preserves from her own tree is the finest meal you will ever have. She's 93 and she beat covid a year ago.

When I master meatball stew / fricasee, I would be a happy cook.

Oyster and egg stew with some crusty French bread. She would always make this for me when she knew I was coming home from college.

Sweet tea. It never tasted the same once she was gone.

My Mississippi grandmother made the best pineapple upside down cake, homemade biscuits, and fried chicken.
My Connecticut grandmother was best at making roast beef with vegetables from my grandfather’s garden. She’d often have pie for dessert and every one was delicious.

Her rice and gravy were the best around. Not to shabby with her gumbo either. My other grandma was fresh biscuits and fried chicken.

Been a long time since I had a meal by my grandmothers. One passed away in ‘91 other in 2000
But maternal grandmother - anything she touched. Since my dad worked 7/7 off shore we went to my grandmothers every Sunday he was offshore and the Thursday he left for work to eat. Typically Sunday was roast/gravy and some veggies. Couldn’t beat it. Everything she cooked took all day to make. Miss her and her cooking.
My paternal grandmother passed while I was in high school and lived out of town. But remember her gumbo

My Maternal Grandmother Cooked awesome cornbread dressing and her seafood gumbo was legendary. If fact our church had a booth selling gumbo at the county fair and they would make hundreds of gallons during the week long fair amd it was my grandmother who cooked all of it. I can get fairly close but I cannot replicate her gumbo.

Her fried okra has not been equaled since her passing 20 years ago.
