I didn't say I didn't see it. I said I was giving an answer opposite of the thread title. People dwell on losses and over look the gains, especially if they are gradual.

not buying AAPL in the 1980-2000 when it was trading at less than $1 a share.

A lot of us are saying bitcoin, some because of Wiki told us way back when to buy it. But, way back when, it sounded almost silly AND if we wanted to it was a difficult buy. I was barely computer literate and wouldn't have had a clue how, despite step by step instructions from wiki. I'd have to go get the high schooler across the street to use my computer to buy it. Point being, for most of us, it was borderline silly and difficult (to say the least) to purchase.
That being said..............

I never researched it enough to know how it was bought and sold back in the beginning.
What was the process for buying/selling in the past five years.
I know several years ago I would see people go out money into Bitcoin machines at gas stations and would wonder how/where they would handle when it was time to sell.

Getting married?
My biggest missed opp for stocks was both local companies, U.S. Unwired that was bought out by Sprint back in early 2000's and trading for pennies. Same with "LNG" when it was under a $1 per share.

We had a chance to leave Louisiana after the hurricanes in 2005, and we didn’t

Bought 30 acres of undeveloped land in Mississippi. Lost my job and moved out of state.
Several years later I begin to get offers to buy the land. Finally , a couple years later, I decided to sell, never driving down to check on the land.
A few yeas later I curiously did a map search for the property. There was a four lane road with a cloverleaf intersection on my old property. $$$$ lost.

It would be too depressing for me to list and re-live them all. At a minimum, at least 10-15 all would have been life changing.

Bought $15k of NVIDIA several years ago at $9/share. Sold all but 10 shares of it at 300% gain to help with an all cash condo purchase in Florida that we use 3 months a year. Would be worth $300,000 today and I wouldn't be spending $22,000/year on taxes and HOA fees had we just walked away. I could rent the nicest unit in the complex every year for 3 months for around $18k. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

I remember some dude was selling books out of his garage.
Who would buy books from some dude selling them out of his garage?
How is that gonna make money?

Early Retired this week. Throw in this post in that context.
The big swing / misses are interesting.
The biggest, IMO, is not taking advantage of time (compounding cash)!
Sold this 30yrs ago, would be $50M today. Ouch.
Controlling one’s time costs far less. Time offers you that luxury / peace of mind. Just don’t miss dat opp!
