A Rottweiler tore up my dog at a dog park once, cost me $1500 cuz the owner dipped out with just a 'sorry' Pretty sure I broke every rib on one side of that dog though.

Beautiful dogs. My uncle had one (along with several horses). That dog was mesmerized with them and would always try and keep up with us while we were riding them.

The dog was as sweet and gentle as could be ... to us. He'd bark or alert when anyone he didn't recognize would come to the property (mailmen, etc.) He never went after them or attacked, but he would alert them. Great dog though.

I wouldn't be opposed to having one. However, I think we may be leaving more towards a Doberman. It changes from week to week.

Golden retrievers bite more people annually in the US than any other dog

Poodles are also above pits in attacks almost every year.

It's training not behavior.

There are some really high quality breeders of Rottweilers. They're a respected breed.

They are very different than pittbulls. But because of their musculature, a lot of trashy people buy rottweilers with bad pedigrees and raise them to be mean arse dogs.

Oh they can definitely be mean.

I have seen it with rescues. Put anything on a chain in the front yard and neglect it and abuse it, and it will be as mean as sin.

Very sad.

Then don't raise it to be that way. It's not hard.

Lunchbox.. I had two Doberman's Ringo and Gringo. That was awesome dogs. I know how to raise a dog. Just not sure on the Rottweiler breed. Are they similar to a Doberman?

How many golden retrievers are out there as opposed to ______ breed dog? It's probably that (or a lab) that is the most popular breed in the US, no?

I do agree that it's about training, but certain dogs have particular instincts. For example, the majority of dalmatians I have encountered tend to be on the more aggressive side.

But still less popular than pit bulls

It's a stigma they've been given by dumb arse hood trash

They were originally called nanny dogs because they are naturally so patient and gentle

They were utilized and treated poorly to get aggression out of them due to their extremely muscular frame, thick head and wide set stance is ideal for fighting

This is largely due to way over inbreeding and them typically being deaf which causes neurosis. Dalmatians are the product of poor human design over time unfortunately

First, I never said differently. (also, per capita is at play here)

Second, the reason I think pits should not be bred anymore is because they require a very specific training and strong owner. If a poodle bites someone, they will recover. If a pit bull attacks someone they could die, which happens with them more than any other breed in this country.

Its sad because I agree they can be raised properly, but most people who own them don't and it creates a violent animal with a real ability to do real damage.

I equate it to owning a big cat, but less severe obviously. It should almost require a permit.

But by all means call me a "retard who shouldn't be allowed to voice an opinion"

If you don't know how to train it properly, or want to pay for proper training, then a rottweiler will go to instinct.

They are aggressive if you let them be, and will try to Alpha you and your wife if allowed.
