What is up with this pop culture obsession with space and astronauts this year?

This year it seems like they are coming out with an astronaut show every minute. Disney Plus, Netflix, Apple TV. Netflix is giving us their second astronaut show.

Not even children's TV has been safe from this space craze.

This is crazy. We haven't seen anything like this since the 60s.

People are using their creativity and the internet to give us their own space adventures.

Not just astronaut stuff and sci fi but 2020 has given us space documentaries as well.

I remember back in 2013 and 2014 there was nothing on TV with space travel in it. This space revival has been amazing.

Perhaps Elon Musk's achievements have ignited interest in space again.

To perpetuate the lie of the moon landing so it helps perpetuate the lie of covid.

Why is their only 1 white kid, whose gender isn’t obvious, in that picture when whites are the majority? 61% to be exact.

Minority-nauts didn't flow as well as 'astronauts'

so they stuck a white kid in there to make it legit

TV and Movies has always been about exploration and living on the edge of civilization. Why do you think Westerns were so big?

I don’t know. But if it would encourage more reading and absorption of knowledge then it is great.

People need to read, read, read. Books, volumes, encyclopedias. History, science and mechanics.

Learn the real reasons wars are fought, things are built and the way that brilliant thinking conceive ideas and technologies.

Learn about how the rockets and support stuff was built.

Learn about the Liberty ships of WW2. How they went from taking 230 days on average to 42 days to build. They did it by refining their techniques, planning, hustling, paying attention and standardization.

Get them off of the electronics for all of their knowledge. The electronics can be good if they are reading Wiki or have gone to the Library of Congress and read some of the official military history’s.

Learn about how the first units on Guadacanal survived, what the Army and Navy/USMC had to do to beat the Japanese to submission.

Read,read,read.

It's really just shows instead of films. Doesn't seem any different outside of that.

Because they aren't obligated to cast the perfect proportion of representation of populations when they're casting for a kids' show about astronauts?

Of course, but what was their motivation in making the casting decisions that they did?

Would you prefer going back to years of vampire obsession in movies and TV?

The vampire era could have been legit if most of it wasn't cheesy teenage romance.

Recycling a booster rocket? Because he's honestly achieved nothing we haven't been able to do, and actually did, since 73-74.

American multimedia has huge international reach. Whites are not the majority around the world.

Why does a diverse cast in an original series even warrant discussion? I’m just glad this isn’t some reimagining of existing source material where genders and races of established characters are shaken up to appeal to identify politics.

At least they are coming up with a new movie instead of trying to reboot a past movie which seems to be the theme in Hollywood these days. Creativity is at an all time low.
