Holy shite! If that cargo weighs enough to required that trailer configuration, it must be a black hole.

That being said, it could be that the cargo is not THAT heavy but the wheel configuration is being used to distribute the load enough to be able to cross a very weak structure, like possibly a posted bridge.

It is all about weight distribution. Separate trailers designed to transfer weight to surrounding trailers. If I had to guess, it is designed this way to keep the roads from getting overloaded and destroyed.

I also agree with the other poster who said it appears to be on the way home from making the delivery.

That would be one expensive toll fare.

I wonder what it costs to ship something like that??

I-20 between Jackson and Meridian.

I did not take the photo. I saw it on the Book of Faces. Someone answered that it was carrying a snack for Michelle Obama and it became a race war in the comments.

This one was hauling a column.

Maybe 174 tires, if my memory is correct.

Based on the shape of the tarps in the OP, my guess is a large centrifugal compressor for refinery/ethylene plant.

Likely coming from western NY or PA.

It's probably a transformer .. And the truck is loaded. It would not be going down the road in that configuration empty, and it would not just be carrying timbers and mats... That kind of stuff would be hauled on a legal load truck

Compressor. Probably built in Pennysylvania and headed to who nknows where. They also have a traler that the compressor hangs from and allows it to "float" so as not to damage it due to the bumpy roads.
