He usually comes out right after Thanksgiving so that's about a month of her having fun with it. $1 a day is a small price to pay. Much less actually when you use it multiple years.

We do not do the Elf on A Shelf, but I get why others do, and if it brings their family some joy and entertainment, then good for them.
