What's great is that when it first started all the FB chicks were bragging about how creative they were with set ups and stuff. Now, they're complaining and trying to find ways to keep from having to move the thing every day.

You don't have to do anything. I've got kids who are too young for this thing yet, but I see no reason why I would deny them the enjoyment I've seen from other kids with the elf on the shelf deal. It is harmless and they seem to like it quite a bit so I'm sure I'll partake in it when the time comes. Once you have kids your opinion may change as well, but to each his own.

huh? That thing looks like the monster in a straight to USA Stephen King movie. You can't compare it to Santa, unless you have some weird intimidating German Santa in your house.

I'll replace the elf with a cute snowman or penguin if my kid starts asking about it. I'm not against the concept.....I just am seriously creeped out by the elf. Last thing I want to see walking in my hall late at night is that creepy fricker staring at me.

I'll tell them the penguin is way cooler than the elf.

Do you give into the whole gimmick that is giving presents in December? The gimmick of Santa? There are a ton of gimmicks associated around holidays, but this one is "the one" that gets your goat?

It's a goddamned $30 doll that makes my little girl extremely excited each and every day and she loves the tradition of it. All I have to do is put it in a different location when I go to bed. You people make it sound like it is a big chore.

No shite. It seems like you could create your own for next to nothing. Grab some velvet, some pipe cleaners and some nightmares and you could make one in ten minutes.

If that was the case with my daughter I wouldn't have it out either. I only do it to add to her fun around the holidays.
