Didn't read the whole thread but it's possibly an ingrown hair. Is it just under the surface or deep in there?

How old are you?

Have you had fevers, chills, night sweats, or weight loss?

Have you had a scratch, bite, cut, rash or anything else down from your armpit to your hand?

Malignancy usually is not tender...usually. That being said, it is totally reasonable to observe for 2 weeks prior to being seen. There is nothing that would change prognostically in 2 weeks in the absence of other symptoms.

I agree with avoiding any artificial scents or textures like deodorant. Wear loose fitting shirts that don’t bunch under your armpit. Watch carefully for signs of infection as that is not a fun place to get an abscess.


I hope you feel better soon. If it is tender you could consider putting warm compresses on it to see if it comes to a head (if it’s an abscess or furuncle). If it does, don’t squeeze it but continue with compresses until it spontaneously drains. If it’s a lymph node it won’t come to a head.

When I was a jr in high school, we went camping one weekend. Came back and a week later I had a bump in my armpit that hurt.

I went to the doc in the box. He looked at it, came back with a nurse, held me and put hot wax all over my pit. He yanked out a tick.

I had a similar experience, went to the doc and it was staph. They cut it open and drained it, then packed it with antibacterial gauze. Sent me home and I rode out hurricane Rita with it. Power went out and I was suffering with fever and a sore armpit. Antibiotics finally took hold and my fever broke then I recovered. It was nasty

Could be a bot worm.
