What is this Anti-Work movement?

I see this on Reddit sometimes. Where the actual frick do these people think money will come from? The magic money fairy? And quiet quitting??? Who thought it's a great idea to do the absolute minimum to get by? Sure that's fine in this job market but when it normalizes it's your complacent arse that's going to be at risk when someone hungry comes along and decides they want your position. This just feels like a movement of laziness to me. When did this shite start happening?

We're already in a big argument in the other thread

I can absolutely see why this is a thing and don't necessarily blame people for doing this, especially when working for a large company.

It's mostly the latest generation of spoiled, entitled children who don't think they should have to work for a living.

They don’t care, they think they are fricking over the man and earning virtue points to redeem at a later date

As a company drone, I have absolutely no problem with someone not wanting to think about their job 24/7.
I do my job while I'm at work and I am a family man when I'm not at work.
These fancy tiktok names for "leave work at work" is just the trendy new thing.

Yep. Companies love to hire young, underpaid employees then train them to do the jobs of 2 people and expect to hold them at low wages.
It is poor integrity.

Nah, it's a mutual relationship. These large companies do the absolute minimum to retain/take care of their employees. In reality, they don't give a frick about the employees at all, so there's no reason for the employees to go above and beyond only to be told they're lucky to have a job as a reward for their work.

Second boomer thread of the day complaining that not all workers are as miserable as them

frick right off with this shite. If you want to pay me more for me to do more than what we agreed to, great. If not, pound sand.

Not anti-work at all but I also don’t get in line to sniff CEO jockstraps like a lot here. The oligarchs in this country hate the common man and exercise political power to drain the middle class.

Side-jack, why did "quiet quitting" all of a sudden become a thing where I see 5 new articles a week on it? Some people doing the bare minimum is not new. It feels like a topic being pushed by someone.

Didn’t we just do this thread?

Doing the job you're paid to do and turning your email off at night?
THE HORROR!

You know, I was about to process this change order for a contractor, but I think I'll just tell them to do the extra work at no additional cost. They should be team players, right?
ETA: Downvoters want to try to articulate what they disagree with in this post? I'd love to hear how it's any different.

My working theory is that it’s an industry planted narrative to shame people for not doing uncompensated labor by equating it to the ever shameful “quitting”.
