I use it so that recruiters can consistently come to me with better jobs. I’ve been at my company for 10 years and I’m happy with my company but also happy to jump for enough money.

If you work in consulting, individual profiles are useful when you're about to be a client I'm meeting with. I use it to learn about where you worked, what you did, and how I need to structure communications to you (if you have a heavy IT background vs. a law background, etc.).

The jobs section is shite. EasyApply through LinkedIn and Workday have completely fricked the job market. No human reads 90% of job applications before they're rejected.

I agree. I will say background research is great for linked in and I still use it for that. Other than that I feel like it’s a giant pat on the back circle jerk bullshite.

Yeah, the "I'm a thought leader" crap out of people, is bad. I've been doing what I've been doing for more than 20, and I don't even say that. I only really pay attention when someone junior to me gets a cert or a new job. I don't need to know what your firm has established as a new way to say zero-trust (which was default deny in the 90s.) You're so smart, don't grant access to resources that aren't required for legit business purposes. Wow, new concept, but you have a logo to go with it.

I’m 11 in sales but 12 in service for the same company. I’m more than half my life with my current company. I’ve seen it all on LinkedIn.

What makes me wonder is the guys that couldn’t do near what I could do keep jumping jobs and getting promoted. Some times I wonder if I would have left where I could have been.

As with everything else it is meant for networking. I wasn't looking for a new job either until a recruiter from one of our competitors reached out to me via LinkedIn recently.

Two months later I was excited to accept a new job as a result of that individual reaching out to me.

A place where average looking chicks can post selfies of themselves at a conference and have middle management boomers making creepy, simp comments about them.

We post product videos, demos, etc... on it. Very useful. Strictly use it to promote company and products. Don't get involved in any discussions, absolutely no politics, etc...

I can post a good 45 second product video showing benefits, safety, etc.. and have over 2000 views in less than 24 hours. This corresponds with a huge uptick in our website traffic for a few days. We use it to drive traffic to our website which is what you want.

I will buck the trend here a bit. I use it to share research and build credibility within my customer base. I am in healthcare consulting and people now seek out me and my company for what we have shared on LinkedIn.

I do have to deal with the constant sales people. I don’t use LinkedIn to sell but rather to build brand awareness.

It used to be good for networking and job hunting.

Now, it's just Facebook for working people.
