I have given enough personal information on here that if someone wanted to figure out who I am, it’s probably pretty easy. Now if I wanted to post about my GF being a count or something, I wouldn’t do it from this account.
That said, I don’t have any alters. The admin SWAT team is too good to get away with it.

I had a buddy a while back that didn’t remember his old account, couldn’t get the password again so created an alter just to post. It got banned with the swiftness. He then proceeded to do the same thing for about a year with each new account getting the ban hammer too.

Same here.
I have meant at less 10+ posters in real life. Some of them have been in my home and no, not friends before. These are ppl I meant on TD. Buying and selling guns, computer hardware, etc.
The ones with alters must live some fake life.

When I hit the first one, I just assumed it was a typo. When I hit the second, it felt like you were gas-lighting us

A lot of posters on here have friends, coworkers, or SO's IRL who read TD and know their screen name. Those people often use alters so they can post things they don't want traced back to them. The main reason to have an alter, though, is to post while banned.

I think to avoid getting caught you need to use a throwaway email under a different IP address.
So basically log into the throwaway email from a different computer and different internet service to create your new account than you did when you created the first.

I have never had an alter, but i strongly considered it a few weeks ago.
On the scoreboard I posted that I hoped the Bama team plane "crashed into an open sewer". I thought it was obviously sardonic and not to be taken literally....
Anyway, I was banned for a month. It sucked, but in the end I didn't get an alter and glad that I didn't.
