The one that really sticks with me is Nixon resigning. I was six and thought the world had just ended.

The Reagan assassination attempt.

Heard about the Doolittle Raid, April 1942, but there was no watching it; that predated TV.

That’s odd, I thought he died at Graceland.

When baby Jessica fell into that well back in 1987

Probably watergate. I knew it was bad and on the TV all the time. I remember my grandmother and my parents discussing the whole saga. Then next would be the fall of Saigon because daddy came back from Vietnam in 1969 and I remember him being upset that we tucked tail and ran from Vietnam with the fall of Saigon and the airlift. I was born in 67.

For me, the oldest I remember was watching the Gulf War with my parents. I "remember" the Berlin Wall probably because it was still fresh and they would show footage of it periodically. I remember my grandparents celebrating the end of the USSR (they were Czech and had fled Stalin to the US).

OJ verdict. I don't remember watching it live (because I'm guessing my school didn't let me), but I remember coming home from school that day and my parents, grandparents, and uncles and aunts being extremely pissed off about it and really drowning their sorrows over it.

Challenger explosion is my earliest memory of watching and kind of understanding what was going on.

My first memories are of the Gulf war, like I said, but the first real shite that I vividly remember was the Clinton impeachment, and 9/11. I didn't exactly spend my childhood days parked in front of the TV watching news.
The Clinton Impeachment is probably the third major story I remember outside of OJ and Princess Di. Reason I remember it pretty well is my parents wanted to reluctantly have "The Talk" with me due to this... but they were too big of pussies to do it. So they get one of my uncles to do the job for them. I was 10 at the time, and my uncle was half in the bag and he tells me. "Look, I know at this point you know about sex, so here's my advice to you: if you've got a condom, and she's hot, frick her." I had no idea what he was talking about either.

I was being raised by a single dad when I got to the age where I was interested in girls. This was when aids was still a very big scare.
Our talk was basically "son, if you go sticking your unwrapped dick in just anything you might die. Wrap it up. Good talk"

I remember that little girl trapped in a well. Baby Jessica. I was born in 81.

I don't know if this is technically a news event, but for me it's the new millennium and everything with that

Even before the assassination I can remember the news reports on the Cuban Missile Crisis. Scary times.
