What is the longest you have worked the same job?

And how did you feel when you left?
I worked at the same place for ten years. Gave them a 6 month notice. Surprisingly, I was a little emotional on my last day of work there. Even had feelings of regret after working at my new job the first week. But those feelings passed when I reminded myself the reasons I left. Realized old co-workers might notice your gone for a little while but in reality nobody really cares. It is just a job. If a better opportunity presents itself in the future I will now take it without a second thought. Change is not that scary anymore.

10 years also. I would have stayed much longer but our business unit was acquired by another company and they turned a good place to work into a shitty one.

I will make 11 years at my current job this May. Before this 5 years was the longest at any stop.

6 years I worked at the same bar in Baton Rouge while I was in school and a year after graduation while I enjoyed myself before entering the real world. The place was like a family so I miss them and the regulars that watched me grow up. I always knew I would leave though so I guess it really didn't hit hard in that sense. I still go back and visit when I'm back in Baton Rouge, but that's not very often these days.

6 years. I felt a little bad when leaving because that department had just got me from another department with a promotion and raise. New job had offered 20% more money and a much better work environment with much better people.
Before that, I left jobs with no issues. It was always for more money and better roles, etc.

Hit 13 on v-day, could be ready to move on, but would like to find a home for the next 10 years until retirement.

Sadly, my 6 years in the Army is probably the longest I’ve worked for the same “company”...

10 years almost to the day. Company was sold 3 times in that time frame. Finally bought by a huge, multi-national finacial company.Total change in management and culture. Saw the writing on the wall for my department and got out. Do miss the great insurance and benefits, but making more $$, and less stress now.

A month shy of 10 years and left last October. It was bittersweet in some respects and a tremendous relief in others. I do wish them well in their future endeavors. It was a great group of coworkers for the most part.

A little over 10 years for me.
Kinda strange for me in that every employer in my lifetime has been dissolved. From the steak restaurant I worked for 3 weeks when I turned 16, then the burger joint, to the ladies clothing store, then after college the 2 finance companies, the auto dealer, the collection agency, the bank I worked for merged and no longer runs their charter even though it was the oldest in OK, then the 2 hospitals I worked for (1 was 101 years old when it went bankrupt, the other was small surgery center chain).
Technically, my work history is unverifiable at all since who knows where the records ended up or if those records still exist.

It will be 13 years this September.
The closest I've come to leaving happened in the last 6 months. My boss quit and her replacement is a guy I'm having a hard time with.
Old boss was a fantastic leader and we saw eye to eye on most things. There was a mutual respect and true friendship there.
New guy is arrogant, know-it-all with terrible social skills and clear bias.
I've had a few chances to show him what I know, and how my skillset improves my team and the product we provide. He's finally starting to come around.
I've figured out that he's actually really trying to be a good leader. He's smart, but awkward with poor instincts on how to relate to people. It's almost like he's an alien that still can't understand humans.
But I like my job and my company. Things are getting better and I hope to retire from here.
