It is like this, but used to not be able to buy hard stuff on sunday, now yo can.

I remember a long time ago when i lived in GA, most places stopped selling at 11:45 pm on saturday night. Not bars, just the stores.

Shreveport/Caddo Parish just changed their laws. Our bars are now open on Sundays.

I’m glad I’ve never lived in a place where I couldn’t buy alcohol 24/7.

I guess people pushing for the removal of blue laws is part of the fabled "war on christianity"

quote:

Are you saying you can't buy beer in the morning on a weekday?

It was at about 5 am in Carencro, they wouldn't sell to me. The clerk didn't say why, just said that's how it is.

quote:

If you think even a little bit I think you'll figure out why some places don't allow alcohol on Sunday mornings.

Because some people worship their gods on sunday? I was hoping they used some other reason to pass the laws, or showed research showing higher incidents of people killed in accidents during these times due to drunk driving. How is this not considered persecution by religion?

Had this happen to me twice:

1) In Minneapolis for a funeral and found out we couldn't buy beer on Sunday. Ended up making a trip over to Wisconsin to buy beer.

2) In North Carolina trying to buy beer before a NFL game only to find out you couldn't purchase before noon

Or maybe why don't they just make a law prohibiting the religious folks from buying it and let the people that aren't religious buy whatever they want?

When I was a kid in NE Ark we had to drive across the line into Missouri to buy beer any day of the week because I that g'damn dry county bullshite... then on Sunday we had to wait until after noon and it was "Sunday beer" that was only 3.2% ABV.

When I went to Ole Miss we had absolutely alcohol on Sundays in Lafayette County, even at restaurants.

And they did not allow the sale of cold beer.

Now, 9 years after I graduate, they have all of that.

We would just go the county line on Sundays though, so it wasn't that big of a deal.
