How was this? I've heard it's demanding because of the altitude but the "climbing" itself is more of a high altitude hike.

Genro, you are younger than I pictured you. Hope you and your brother are doing well.

Silverton, CO 9,302 ft above sea level. Technically, I’ve gone higher than that though because driving there from Durango, CO takes you to a little over 10,000’ above sea level. But as far as actually getting out and walking around, Silverton is as high as I have been without an airplane being involved.

What I learned that day is shorter trails are not a good thing when it comes to climbing tall mountains

Anything over 1000 ft per mile is pretty intense

Probably camping on Denali was known as Mt McKinnely back then. I don't know how high we were but snow was still on ths ground and ice bridges were all over place in July

Zebulon Pike never made it to the peak. He just saw it, was called James Peak for a while since James Edmund was the first to climb it.

At around 15,200 feet at 2 different places. Mt. Cotopaxi ski area parking lot in Ecuador. And a hiking trail at Abra Malaga Peru. Used Coca leaves for the later, it does help. In the US Longs Peak a couple of times, was listed at 14,256 when I climbed it.

Just an altitude test. Stepping stone for Denali, for me. The guide I normally use was guiding an expedition so I hopped in with him.

A couple years back I decided to hike halfway up the grand teton fresh off a flight from new orleans to see what it was like. Made it up from 7000ft to about 11000ft

Would not recommend
