probably stick with BR then...Stay right off 10 on college, acadian, or downtown and just hop on the bridge in the am. Better than dealing with rush hour traffic on 12

This. It might save you a couple of hours in the morning.

We moved back to BR in order to avoid that damn commute.

If you leave Covington at 7, you might as well just stay until 8. Your blood pressure will be lower and you will probably get through baton rouge the same time as if you left at 7.

Either get up earlier or sleep in.

Stay in Port Allen. You can spend all night at the Crazy Horse. Then by the next morning, you and your herpes will already be on the other side of the bridge and on your way.

Pretty much. Probably more like a Raising Cane's since I have a rule that even if I eat chains, I try my best to find chains that I don't have back home.

Although, I really do appreciate the suggestions though. I do plan to spend more time in Louisiana at some point in the future (I've never been to New Orleans).

And scared white people escaping the south shore of Lake Pontchatrain who act very pretentious.....DiCristina's near the courthouse is really good .

Having made the drive from Covington to Baton Rouge every day for almost a year, I woukd definitely leave earlier than 7 in order to miss the traffic. You are looking at least 35-40 mins to get from Covington to Denham and thats where the traffic on 12 just comes to a screeching halt. If you can leave around 6-615 that would be ideal. The later you leave the more traffic youll hit. You also need to factor in the two construction zones on 12 between Walker and Hanmond which go down to 60 and always have troopers posted up by there.

Hammond has a pretty nice, walkable downtown with several really good restaurants and drinking spots.

I'd say Covington has a pretty cool downtown area as well....
