What's the advantage of buying tires online? If you say price, is it worth the hassle of mounting the tires yourself?

I just check tire buyer. they charge sales taxes because they have a warehouse in LA. When you add in cost to rotate (which is free when purchased from most local places), it is basically a wash for me.

So what happens to road hazard warranties and such? I'd rather spend an extra 100 with a local that can do for free if problems arise.

Haven't priced the tires I'm looking for at local shops, but I doubt they can get below 152/tire for installation, fees, and taxes.

I included the valve stems on my tirebuyer calculation.
Tirebuyer: 519 shipped + 20 for 4 valve stems + 68 for installation = 607 total
DTD = 592 shipped + whatever installation is
Do you think the tirebuyer quote on installation includes the disposal fee or nah?
ETA: Also Tirebuyer says I can have the tires delivered to my local shop tomorrow, whereas DTD says it will take 3-7 days.

Just bought a set from tirebuyer.com and I highly recommend. I really like the ship direct to the installer option. Ordered Wednesday, delivered Thursday, installed today. Prices including tax were competitive if not cheaper than other internet places.

TireRack.com used to be the joint. But now I think that by the time you have them shipped and mounted you don't end up saving that much.
TireRack.com still has really good customer reviews for different tires, or did the last time I checked. So if you're looking for info on a specific tire or looking to change brands they have good 411.

Costco best tires and service, Free rotation, road hazard, and will inflate them back to proper pressure with nitrogen for free.
