Especially when most local places offer free rotates, balancing, flat repairs, alignment checks, etc for the life of the tires, plus road hazards on tires sold locally are usually tires they have in stock and you don't have to ride around on a donut waiting on UPS. These local places also have an alignment machine to make sure the specs are right when installing new tires, something Costco and Sam's doesn't offer, it's such a competitive business that anyone will meet the price of the tire, it comes down to who offers the most benefits and best service.
